by Benjamin Biolay (La Superbe, 2009)
La Chanson française n’est pas morte! If you think that Serge Gainsbourg was the only artist that could mix pop and jazz in a smart way or you’re one of those Dominique A’s fans that considers him to be the unique exponent of good French musique nowadays, I’m afraid to say that you’re completely wrong.
Singer, songwriter, musician, actor and record producer, the savoir faire of Monsieur Biolay has been captured in five albums and several singles and collaborations (Keren Ann and his sister Coraline Clément being two of his major inspirations).
'Padam' is the last example of this dark, exciting and irresistible parfum that M. Biolay offers us in a very generous way. It’s compulsory to take a look at the video of this song where the great Micha Lescot performs the role of lead singer of a fictitious band.
Songs like 'Une Chaise à Tokyo' or 'Négatif' are just a couple more exquisite examples from his extensive body of work.
M. Biolay… Chapeau!
