Song Of The Day No.22

Primitive (The Way I Treat You)

by Ambulance LTD (LP, 2005)

Seemingly able to cover all the sub-genres of indie in one album and do it well, this, the third single to be released off LP is catchy MOR indie. Steady guitar chords and purposeful drumming stand alone, only backed up by a tinking of piano in the background, Marcus Congelton's spokenly sung vocals tell us a story in a fast-paced ernest way, what it is about you're never quite sure. After quick change in pitch and intensity for the chorus the song returns without much delay to it's deliberate, measured walk. There after however, the sound is fuller as other instruments have joined and Congelton guides us back to the chorus with greater frequency.

Congelton is, in fact, the only surviving member of the group after various line up changes and has worked with The Velvet Underground's John Cale in the studio with material for the band. As it stands LP is their only full length release, the band give record label problems as an excuse and are currently working on their next album.
